The Gate

West Bay, Doha-Qatar

One of the key objectives during 2012 was to establish The Gate as a luxury shopping and business destination. Due to its unique locale, superior finishes and distinctive mix of tenants, The Gate has fulfilled its initial mandate in establishing its reputation as a premium retail destination in Doha.

The mall is currently occupied by 43 luxury brands spread across the ground and first level, with a healthy occupancy rate of 90%. The focus in 2013 will be on finalizing the 2nd and 3rd floors and having the mall fully operational by year-end.

2013 operations include several revenue-generating additions to The Gate.

Fit-out works on the second floor have started in the development of a unique multi-faceted gourmet dining & grocery concept. This brand new dining experience named ‘EATOPIA’ will incorporate an outdoor terrace area of 800sqm, and will feature a wide range of international cuisine and food offerings.

A children’s edutainment area has already been confirmed and will offer intellectual and creative activities for kids, i.e. Café Ceramique and Little Engineer.

The remaining spaces on the 2nd floor will be utilized for leisure activities and services. Negotiations regarding the third floor are ongoing with several attractive options under consideration.

With the demand for A-grade offices high, tenants are consistently occupying the office spaces. Therefore, the resultant occupancy rate currently stands at 80%, as we continue negotiations with private companies and governmental institutions for large volume tenant space.

During 2012, The Gate hosted and organized many social and cultural events that reflected positively on the mall’s overall brand image. These events were related to CSR, public holidays, fashion shows, business forums and launches of retail brands and offices. The event activities also attracted good mall traffic and increased awareness for The Gate. Moreover, the available F&B outlets are successful and building up a good reputation amongst Qataris and expats.
